Doctors: Remove soda from food stamp program
{mosads}“The AMA is working to improve the nation’s healthcare outcomes, particularly cardiovascular disease and diabetes, which are often linked to obesity,” AMA President Ardis Hoven said in a statement. “Removing sugar-sweetened beverages from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will help encourage healthier beverage choices.”
The doctors’ lobby adopted measures on Tuesday supporting a ban on the marketing of energy drinks to children and saying obesity should be classified as a disease.
