Bipartisan bill would update CBO health scoring
{mosads}Sponsors of the measure underlined the need for accurate budget scoring as chronic illness takes up more and more of U.S. healthcare spending.
A clearer picture of the savings associated with preventive healthcare could help bills that invest in prevention to gain traction, said co-sponsor Rep. Donna Christensen (D-V.I.).
“It will play a pivotal role in ensuring that sound and forward-thinking preventive health proposals are given a more accurate score and thus chance to move in Congress,” she said in a statement.
Christensen introduced the measure alongside Rep. Michael Burgess (R-Texas), who leads the Congressional Health Care Caucus. It had 10 co-sponsors as of Thursday.
