HHS: ObamaCare rollout ‘on schedule’

The Health and Human Services (HHS) Department says the implementation of ObamaCare is “on schedule” despite a recent decision to delay the employer mandate.

Federal health officials released a Web video Monday titled “HHS is on schedule.”

The 74-second clip highlights the Affordable Care Act’s more popular provisions and the dates they took effect over the last three years.

{mosads}The video also notes several recent moves to enact the law, including the launch of a rebranded HealthCare.gov focused on the insurance marketplaces that will launch Oct. 1.

Republicans have criticized the administration for its decision to delay a requirement that larger businesses offer health insurance to their workers.

The White House announced July 2 that it would not penalize businesses for non-compliance until 2015.

Critics of the administration say the move indicates that ObamaCare is unworkable and that federal officials are struggling to enact the complicated law.

HHS leaders, though, insist their efforts are on track and that the insurance exchanges — the law’s centerpiece — will open for enrollment on time.

“In less than six months, historic changes will go into effect, ensuring that all Americans have access to affordable, quality health coverage,” Monday’s video states.
