Pelosi tells Democrats to prepare to ‘fight’ for ObamaCare

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is telling Democrats they should be ready to fight to protect the Affordable Care Act (ACA), commonly known as ObamaCare, when they come back to Capitol Hill in January.

In a letter to House Democrats obtained by Politico on Wednesday, Pelosi called 2016 a “difficult year for our nation.”

“In January, we will face a new Congress and a new Administration. House Democrats stand ready to fight vigorously for America’s hard-working families,” she said.

{mosads}”As we prepare for the first week in January, we are focusing on protecting the Affordable Care Act, and protecting what the ACA does for Medicare and our seniors.”

She asked members to plan press events to “highlight the risks” of repealing the ACA and ending the Medicare guarantee.

She said she is also planning efforts with Democratic senators and governors for a “national day of action with events across the country to continue the drumbeat.”

“In the days ahead, let each of us find renewal in the love of our families and friends, and in the spirit of the season. We will return to Washington, refreshed and ready to demonstrate that, from day one, Democrats are ready to fight,” she said.

Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) has vowed to repeal President Obama’s signature law within 100 days of when President-elect Donald Trump takes office.

But Republicans could delay a full repeal until they forge a replacement so millions don’t lose access to healthcare coverage.
