ObamaCare opponents hit road to press government shutdown threat
AUC’s goal is to promote the benefits of ObamaCare while slamming Republican lawmakers who are threatening to repeal or defund the legislation.
{mosads}House Republicans plan to vote Friday for the 40th time to repeal ObamaCare. Tea Party lawmakers have vowed to oppose any measures to keep the government running after the current funding bill runs out on Sept. 30 if it also means funding the legislation.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who is leading the effort to defund ObamaCare, is scheduled to speak at one of the Heritage town halls in Dallas. The event gives the rising GOP star a chance to build support for his shutdown threat in his home state.
Cruz slammed House Republicans last week at the Heritage Foundation for holding “empty, symbolic” votes to repeal ObamaCare instead of using tough tactics to force the law’s demise.
The Heritage Action tour will begin on Aug. 19 in Fayetteville, Ark., and will host events in eight other cities across the nation.
