Bipartisan bill offers new approach to Medicare fraud fight

{mosads}It seeks to prevent executives from consistently cheating Medicare by moving from company to company, and would also empower federal authorities to bar from the program organizations that have ties to fraudulent groups, according to a memo from Ways and Means.

That provision seeks to stop the use of shell companies in Medicare fraud schemes as a protection from liability.

The power to root out these players would be held by the Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General under the bill.

Brady and McDermott said the measure “takes a common-sense approach” to the anti-fraud fight and closes a “senseless loophole for criminals who choose to steal from America’s entitlement programs.”
