Pro-ObamaCare group touts ‘Action August’ effort to build support
A group that sprang from President Obama’s reelection campaign launched events on Sunday as part of its plan to promote ObamaCare for the next month.
Liberal nonprofit Organizing for Action (OFA) touted attendance at meetings, dinner parties and town-hall events as part of its “Action August” campaign, an effort to counter Republican criticism of the healthcare law.
“OFA volunteers are taking the fight against misinformation about ObamaCare into their communities, and [on Sunday] they came out in force,” said Jon Carson, OFA’s executive director, in a statement.

The events come as conservative groups, such as Heritage Action, seek to boost support for ObamaCare’s repeal during the month of August with similar efforts.
Supporters and opponents of healthcare reform are focused on two key dates — Sept. 30, when the current government funding bill expires and conservatives may force a shutdown over ObamaCare funds, and Oct. 1, when the new insurance exchanges open for enrollment.
