Rep. Sean Duffy (R-Wis.) on Monday criticized Democratic leadership for opposing the Republicans’ healthcare legislation, saying Democrats have done nothing to improve ObamaCare.
“Has [House Minority Leader] Nancy [Pelosi (D-Calif.)], or [Senate Minority Leader] Chuck Schumer [(D-N.Y.)], or Barack Obama come up with any fix to ObamaCare?” he asked on “Fox and Friends.”
“My district in central northern Wisconsin, it was a Democrat-leaning district. Donald Trump won it by over 60 percent because healthcare doesn’t work for people,” Duffy added.
{mosads}Duffy said the cost of ObamaCare needs to be fixed because the costs are so high that it is “unusable.”
“The bottom line is if you are paying $2,000, $3,000 a month on premiums and $12,000 deductible, that’s unusable. They need us to reform this,” Duffy said.
Duffy said, however, that he believes the Democratic leadership would be willing to work with Republicans after the repeal-and-replace plan passed.
“The Democrats are going to have to get on board. I think the pressure is going to come to bear. The key point for Democrats, once we repeal and start the replacement, they know they can’t go back,” Duffy said in part. “That’s when they will have to come to the table and I think negotiate with us. I think Nancy is going to be part of that conversation, or maybe I’m hopeful because spring is in the air.”
