Ryan heads to WH to brief Trump on healthcare bill

Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) headed to the White House on Friday afternoon to brief President Trump on the status of the ObamaCare repeal bill just hours before a crucial House vote.

The bill, titled the American Health Care Act, is facing stiff resistance from both conservative and moderate Republican lawmakers.

GOP leaders are struggling to assemble enough votes to pass the measure, and if Friday’s afternoon’s vote fails, it would be a major blow to both Ryan and Trump.

{mosads}The blame game has already begun, with people close to Trump putting the mess in Ryan’s lap. Publicly, Trump tried to quell the recriminations by saying the Wisconsin Republican should continue as Speaker even if the House does not pass the bill.

But Trump was notably reserved when asked about the future of the proposal.

“We’ll have to see what happens,” he told reporters.
