Freedom Caucus member tries to force ObamaCare repeal vote

Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.), a conservative member of the House Freedom Caucus, said Tuesday that he plans to file a discharge petition in an effort to force a vote on full repeal of ObamaCare.

Brooks has introduced a two-page bill to repeal the entire law, a measure that has no real path to passage given opposition from moderate Republicans and an inability to get through a filibuster in the Senate.

But Brooks says he wants to put members on record on where they stand by using the petition, which could force a vote if it gets signatures from a majority of House lawmakers.

{mosads}”We will find out who is truly for repeal of ObamaCare and who is not,” Brooks said.

Meanwhile, some GOP lawmakers expressed hope Tuesday at a House GOP conference meeting that repeal is not dead and they could revisit the issue.

President Trump, however, has said he is moving on to tax reform.
