Schumer on GOP healthcare plan: ‘I think it’s 50/50’

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Sunday said he thinks there is at best a 50/50 chance the GOP healthcare bill will pass the Senate.

“I think it’s 50/50,” he said on ABC’s “This Week.”

“First, Democrats, we are doing everything we can to fight this bill, because it’s so devastating for the middle class,” he continued.

Senate Republican leaders last Thursday released a draft of their long-awaited ObamaCare repeal-and-replace bill ahead of a high-stakes vote expected later this week.

The measure includes deep cuts to Medicaid and fundamentally reshapes that program from an open-ended government commitment to a system of capped federal payments that limit federal spending.

Schumer on Sunday described the healthcare bill as “devastating.”

“And that’s what’s making it so hard for them to pass it,” he said.
