Poll: Fewer than 4 in 10 approve of Senate healthcare bill

Fewer than 40 percent of voters approve of the Senate GOP’s plan to repeal and replace ObamaCare, according to a new poll.

A Politico-Morning Consult survey finds just 38 percent of voters support the Senate GOP’s healthcare bill.

Forty-five percent of voters disapprove of the bill, and another 17 percent don’t know or have no opinion on it.

{mosads}The percentage of voters supporting the bill rises among Republican voters. About 60 percent of Republicans approve of the healthcare legislation.

Still, about one-quarter of Republicans disapprove of the bill.

Democrats are largely opposed to the Senate healthcare bill, with just 25 percent approving of the plan, compared with 64 percent who disapprove.

The poll also finds that 41 percent of voters said the bill will make the nation’s healthcare system worse, and 42 percent said it will increase costs for their families.

The poll was conducted from June 22 to 24 among 1,994 registered voters. The margin of error is 2 percentage points.

Senate Republicans last week unveiled a draft of their plan to repeal and replace ObamaCare. On Tuesday, Senate leaders announced plans to delay a vote on the bill when it became clear it lacked the votes for passage.

President Trump on Tuesday met with Senate Republicans at the White House just hours after GOP leaders decided to postpone the healthcare vote until after the Fourth of July recess.
