Christie comes out against Graham-Cassidy

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) has come out against the latest Republican effort to repeal ObamaCare.

The Associated Press reported on Wednesday that Christie is refusing to support the bill, which Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Bill Cassidy (R-La.) are currently pushing in the upper chamber, because it would hurt states like New Jersey that expanded Medicaid under ObamaCare.

He added, according to the AP, that he’s been lobbied to back the legislation, which has yet to garner the necessary votes to pass the Senate.

The measure would repeal much of ObamaCare by converting funds for certain provisions into block grants to states.

{mosads}A group of 15 Republican governors this week came out in support of the bill, which comes less than two months after the GOP’s attempt at a “skinny” repeal of ObamaCare.

In a letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) led by Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R) and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R), the state leaders argued that the block grants are the “last, best hope to finally repeal and replace Obamacare — a program which is collapsing before our very eyes.”

A bipartisan group of governors including Republicans John Kasich (Ohio) and Brian Sandoval (Nev.), however, urged the Senate on Tuesday to reject the latest ObamaCare repeal effort.
