CVS in talks to buy Aetna for $66 billion: report

CVS Health Corp. is in talks to buy health insurance giant Aetna, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.

CVS is reportedly offering to purchase Aetna in a deal that could value the health insurer at $66 billion, or more than $200 per share.

Aetna shares initially spiked more than 10 percent after news of the possible deal broke, the newspaper reported.

The company agreed to buy rival insurer Humana Inc. for $34 billion in 2015, but the deal never came to pass after it was blocked on anti-trust grounds.

Aetna announced earlier this year that it would pull out of its remaining ObamaCare markets, citing financial losses.
