Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Alex Azar is back at work Monday after being hospitalized for a minor infection.
“I’m grateful for the incredible doctors & nurses who provided me with excellent care during my one-night stay at @StVincentIN. Also thankful for my wife, who insisted that I call my primary care doctor when I wasn’t feeling well. Glad to be back at work for the American people,” Azar tweeted.
An HHS spokesperson said Sunday evening Azar was hospitalized to treat a minor infection out of an “abundance of caution.”
“Earlier this evening the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Alex M. Azar II, was treated with intravenous antibiotics for a minor infection,” a spokesperson said in a statement.
“Out of an abundance of caution, he has been admitted to a hospital for observation.”
{mosads}The Washington Post also reported that Azar is “doing fine” and working from the hospital.
Azar was sworn in as HHS secretary in January, following the resignation of Tom Price.
