Another person in Illinois has died from an injury linked to vaping, the Illinois Department of Public Health announced Thursday, the third such case confirmed in the state.

{mosads}“The unfortunate death of a third Illinois resident underscores the seriousness of these lung injuries,” Illinois state health director Ngozi Ezike said in a statement.

“IDPH is urging Illinoisans not to vape or use e-cigarettes products, especially illicit THC based products, while we continue to investigate this outbreak,” she said.

The CDC said Thursday at least 37 people have died from vaping-related deaths across the U.S., with those deaths spanning 24 states and Washington, D.C.

No single ingredient has been identified as the cause of the outbreak, although findings suggest that products that have tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) are linked to most cases of vaping-related illness.

The CDC also confirmed Thursday that 1,888 probable lung injury cases linked to vaping as of this week.
