New York, New Jersey, Connecticut tweak quarantine list

New York, New Jersey and Connecticut updated a joint travel advisory that now includes mandatory quarantine restrictions for travelers visiting from 34 states and Puerto Rico. 

The Democratic governors of the states announced the updated list Tuesday morning. It still requires travelers from nearly everywhere across the U.S. to quarantine for 14 days when entering the states. 

The updated version of the list now includes Rhode Island, while Washington, D.C., and Delaware were dropped. 

UPDATE: If you’re traveling to New Jersey from the following states and territories, you should self-quarantine for 14 days:

CONNECTICUT TRAVEL ADVISORY UPDATE:

Rhode Island added to list of impacted states, Delaware and DC removed.

If you’re traveling to Connecticut from any of the following locations, you need to self-quarantine 14 days.

The governors issued the order requiring the mandatory quarantines in mid-June, and have been amending the initial set of states since. 

To be placed on the travel advisory list, a state has to have a seven-day rolling average of positive tests in excess of 10 percent or a number of positive cases exceeding 10 per 100,000 residents. 

New York was once the epicenter of the pandemic, but states in the Northeast have largely mitigated the spread of the virus while cases are increasing in other parts of the country. 

There have been more than 4.7 million COVID-19 cases and 155,515 fatalities across the U.S., according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
