China reports just 2 new symptomatic coronavirus cases
China reported only two new symptomatic coronavirus cases Saturday amid tighter restrictions on travelers attempting to enter the country.
Chinese health authorities confirmed one case in the Shanxi province and another imported case in Shanghai, The Associated Press reported. Another 12 asymptomatic cases were also confirmed on Saturday, Reuters reported.
The statistics come as China has cracked down on incoming travel. Beijing has basically blocked all foreigners from coming into China and significantly reduced international flights, making it difficult for its citizens to return from abroad.
The officials from the National Health Commission said there were no new coronavirus fatalities Saturday, adding that there has been only one death in the past two weeks.
China has reported 82,877 confirmed cases of the coronavirus overall, with a death toll of 4,633, according to the AP.
Some experts speculate that the Chinese government has not been accurate with its data, however.
