Bloomberg: UAE passes Seychelles as world’s most-vaccinated nation

The United Arab Emirates has become the world’s most vaccinated nation, passing Seychelles, according to Bloomberg’s vaccine data tracker.

Seventy-two percent of residents of the Persian Gulf country have received a COVID-19 vaccine shot, some 15.5 million doses to its population of 10 million.

The UAE surpassed Seychelles, which has 71 percent of its population of 100,000 fully vaccinated, according to Bloomberg.

COVID-19 cases in the UAE are still rising, with daily infections around 2,000 since March. The country hasn’t been placed on a lockdown since emerging from one last year.

The U.S., Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom recently placed the UAE on their “travel warning” list due to rising cases of infections, according to Bloomberg.

The UAE has approved the use of the Moderna vaccine, adding it to the list of approved shots with Pfizer, AstraZeneca and China’s Sinopharm.
