Ravens star quarterback says he’s unsure about being vaccinated after second bout with coronavirus
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson says he’s unsure about getting vaccinated after testing positive for the coronavirus for a second time, The Washington Post reported.
Talking to the media after returning from the COVID-19 reserve list on Monday, Jackson reportedly said that he was “heartbroken” to again test positive for the virus, forcing him to miss the first 10 days of his team’s training camp.
Jackson, who was the NFL Most Valuable Player for the 2019 season, said he believes getting the vaccine is a “personal decision,” adding that he will talk to his team doctors about it, the Post reported.
“I just got off the COVID list,” Jackson said. “I got to talk to my team doctors and try to see how they feel about it. Keep learning as much as I can about it and we’ll go from there.”
“It was crazy. I was heartbroken, because I wasn’t looking forward to that at all — right before camp,” he said. “It was like, not again, not right now. But it’s over with.”
Jackson tested positive for COVID-19 during the team’s outbreak in November, causing him to miss Baltimore’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to the Post.
The NFL, which has seen blowback from players and coaches over a recent memo on COVID-19 vaccination protocols, said last week that 90 percent of its players had gotten a shot.
