Katie Hill diagnosed with COVID-19 late in pregnancy

Former Rep. Katie Hill (D-Calif.) announced she tested positive for COVID-19 while eight months pregnant.

Hill said on social media over the weekend that she is fully vaccinated and received a booster shot.

“I’m boosted and got COVID and am now quarantined for Christmas while almost 8 months pregnant,” she tweeted.

“And though my symptoms are mild I really wish I’d cancelled my plans for the couple weeks before this so stay safe out there, folks,” Hill concluded.

In a Twitter thread, Hill said she “never stopped wearing masks” when asked if she had stopped wearing face coverings after getting her booster shot.

Several lawmakers and public figures have tested positive for COVID-19 recently as the omicron variant quickly spreads across the country.

Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) announced on Sunday that they tested positive for COVID-19.

“I learned today that I tested positive for COVID-19 after first feeling symptoms on Saturday. My symptoms are relatively mild,” Booker said in a statement.

“I’m beyond grateful to have received two doses of vaccine and, more recently, a booster – I’m certain that without them I would be doing much worse,” he added.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has encouraged pregnant people to get vaccinated against the virus, saying it can help protect them from severe illness.
