Obama aide: President to travel to Asia in April
President Obama will visit Asia in April after canceling a visit last month because of the government shutdown, National Security Adviser Susan Rice said Wednesday.
{mosads}“I am pleased to announce today that President Obama will return to Asia this coming April to continue to strengthen our ties,” Rice said at a Georgetown University event on “America’s Future in Asia.”
Obama had been expected to attend important regional summits in Indonesia and Brunei before heading to Malaysia and the Philippines in October. A White House official told The Hill that Obama’s itinerary is not yet being released.
“We don’t have further details to share at this point, including on which countries he’ll visit,” the aide said, “but we’ll make more information available closer to April.”
