Intel chair: US rewarded bad behavior

The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee said the new Iran nuclear agreement “rewarded very bad and dangerous behavior.”

{mosads}Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) said that the agreement, which gives limited relief from sanctions against Iran, softened the one policy that was pressuring Tehran.

“We may have just encouraged more violence in the future than we have stopped,” Rogers said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

“That’s why I hope we reconsider where we’re at, certainly in six months.”

Rogers added that the pressure from sanctions was causing Iran to ponder how badly it wanted a nuclear weapon, and noted that a bipartisan group of lawmakers wanted to go full-speed ahead on sanctions.

“Why now? Why release that pressure now? Iran has not changed,” Rogers said.
