Bill Clinton to keynote Coons’ Africa conference
Former President Bill Clinton will address the annual African investment conference put together by Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.), the senator announced Monday.
The “Opportunity: Africa” forum, now on its third run, seeks to link U.S. businesses and advocates with top Africa policy experts. Clinton’s keynote aims to add not only political but policy heft to the conference, given the former president’s investments in Africa through his Clinton Foundation and his signing of the Africa Growth and Opportunity Act, a preferential trade bill, during his time in office.
“President Clinton has made an extraordinary impact on Africa and much of the developing world,” said Coons, who chairs the Senate Foreign Relations panel on Africa. “It is my pleasure and true honor to welcome President Clinton to Delaware as the keynote speaker for the third annual Opportunity: Africa conference. His unique perspective and unrelenting commitment to improving global health, promoting economic opportunity and growth, empowering women and girls, and protecting the environment will make this year’s conference unforgettable.”
The forum will be hosted on March 10 in Wilmington, Del.
