Kerry expresses deep concern about crash site in call to Kremlin
Secretary of State John Kerry expressed “deep concerns” that investigators have not received full access to the Malaysia Airlines crash site on Saturday during a call with the Kremlin.
Kerry emphasized the international support for an unfettered probe of what happened to the passenger jet, according to a readout of the call with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
{mosads}He also noted reports that “some victims and debris” from the plane have been tampered with, and called on Russia to help lower tensions in the region by urging Ukrainian separatists to lay down their arms.
The call came amid rising concerns about a cover-up at the crash site, which is currently controlled by pro-Russian militias.
While President Obama has indirectly linked the plane’s demise to Russia, the administration has not announced new measures designed to punish the Kremlin.
Kerry will appear on all five Sunday shows this weekend to discuss Flight 14 and Israel’s ground offensive against Hamas in Gaza.
