House intel chief fears ‘unseen war’ in Gaza

Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) said Sunday that new cyber threats are causing concern in the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

“There is an unseen war in this particular event and that’s the new cyber front,” Rogers, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, said on “Face the Nation.”

{mosads}”There is not only what you see coming from Hamas attacks on Israel, but now we have nation cities engaged in the region, inside the conflict that could cause this to escalate and that is very dangerous,” Rogers added.

Attempts by Israel to extend a cease-fire with Hamas militants appear to have failed. Sunday morning Hama leaders asked for a new 24-hour ceasefire, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signaled that nothing had been agreed on.

Rogers said that the administration’s inability to work in concert with other nations is critical in “causing confusion in the Middle East.”

The nearly three weeks of violence have left over 1,000 people dead, most of them Palestinian civilians, and 44 Israelis have been killed as well.

“No one can fail to have feelings of regret and sorrow when you see these things,” Netanyahu said in a separate interview on “Face the Nation” Sunday. “But the blame should be placed at Hamas door.”
