GOP senator: Obama ‘blinded’ to Iran’s danger

Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) said on Wednesday that President Obama is ignoring the risk posed by his nuclear deal with Iran in favor of cementing his foreign policy legacy.

{mosads}“The president has been naïve throughout this whole process,” Barrasso told host Martha MacCallum on Fox News’s “America’s Newsroom.”

“What this deal shows me is there is no red line for the president and this administration,” he said. “They were so desperate to get a deal that they settled for a very bad deal.”

“The president had this deal euphoria that to me said that he is blinded and cannot see how detrimental this deal is to the United States as well as to the world in terms of safety and security,” added Barrasso, chairman of Senate Republican Policy Committee.

Barrasso also argued that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is jeopardizing U.S. safety by backing Obama’s pact with Iran.

“I think she was the first one to throw in the towel,” he said of Clinton’s tenure at the State Department.

“She was the first to surrender and say it’s OK for Iran to continue its development of a nuclear weapon,” Barrasso said.

“She has to be held accountable for her role in what is a terrible deal for our own U.S. security,” he added.

Clinton announced on Wednesday that she is backing Obama’s diplomatic agreement with Iran.

“I support this deal. I support it as part of a larger strategy toward Iran,” said Clinton, a 2016 Democratic presidential candidate.

Obama also secured support from 42 Democratic senators on Tuesday, safeguarding his deal, which eases economic sanctions in exchange for greater restrictions on Tehran’s nuclear capabilities, from a possible resolution of disapproval later this month.
