State Dept. condemns Camp Hurriya attack
{mosads}Shahriar Kia, a spokesman for the Iranian exile group Mujahedin-e-Khalq, told CNN that at least one of the deaths in the rocket and mortar attack was due to delays in getting the injured to the hospital.
State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said in a statement that officials call on the Iraqi government to “earnestly and fully carry out that investigation and to take all appropriate measures to enhance the security of the camp consistent with its commitment and obligation to the safety and security of the camp’s residents.”
“The terrorists responsible for this attack must be brought to justice,” Nuland added.
State Department officials are consulting with Iraqi officials and the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq on the circumstances surrounding the attack.
