Kerry names Democratic operative as special envoy to fight antisemitism

“Ira is a perfect fit for his new position and an exemplary Jewish leader,” National Jewish Democratic Council Chair Marc Stanley said in a statement. “He will do an excellent job of combatting anti-Semitism and defending American and Jewish interests around the world. We wish Ira the best as he serves our country and the Jewish people.”
And Abraham Foxman, the national director of the Anti-Defamation League, said it “demonstrates that America’s resolve to fight anti-Semitism is serious and ongoing.
“The Special Envoy has been an important factor in helping to institutionalize that fight as an American foreign policy priority.”
