US Consulate in Italy evacuated after bomb alert false alarm
{mosads}The State Department evacuated its embassy in Yemen on Tuesday, and has closed 19 diplomatic posts around the Middle East and North Africa.
White House press secretary Jay Carney said Monday that the threat seemed focused on the Arabian peninsula, but could extend to American interests and citizens across the globe.
“This is a temporary measure and it is out of an abundance of caution,” Carney said. “We are engaged around the world and that engagement creates some risk. This decision is designed to reduce that risk but our engagement will continue.”
