Cardin confident Congress will approve Syria strikes

{mosads}”I think we do need stronger consensus in this country, and having an open debate in Congress, I think, will be healthy. And I hope that it will bring the type of unity in our country and encourage more countries to join us, not just in support but in participation of an appropriate response to to really affect Syria’s ability to deliver chemical weapons,” he said on MSNBC.

While Cardin believes Congress will support taking military action against Syrian President Bashar Assad, he said any attack must be “very much targeted to Syria’s ability to use chemical weapons  or make it available to terrorist organizations.” It can’t include boots on the ground and must be done with international support, he said.

“We’ve got to get it right,” he said.
