Macron leads in French opinion polls heading into Sunday election
French presidential candidate Emmanuel Macron has a big lead in opinion polls heading into Sunday’s election.
Reuters reports that Macron leads right-wing National Front candidate Marine Le Pen by 23-26 percentage points in opinion polls conducted ahead of the runoff election.
Macron, who is pro-European Union and wants to unify the left and the right in France, has been a favorite over Le Pen, an anti-immigration nationalist, since the conclusion of the first round of the election last month.

Voters in France are heading to the polls two days after Macron’s campaign was hacked and a massive archive of emails and documents were leaked online. France’s government cybersecurity agency said Saturday they would investigate the hack, calling it a “very serious” breach.
French officials warned media outlets to exercise “responsibility” with the hacked documents and warned that it could be a criminal offense to publish them.
Neither Macron nor Le Pen has commented on the hack and subsequent leaks because of French electoral laws that require a two-day blackout on campaigning and media coverage, as an attempt to avoid influencing the election results.
Macron landed an endorsement from former President Barack Obama this week. President Trump has declined to endorse either candidate in the race, but has previously praised Le Pen as “the strongest on borders” and “the strongest on what’s been going on in France.”
