President Trump was French President Emmanuel Macron’s guest of honor at the Bastille Day celebrations in Paris on Friday, which included a performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
Trump said “it was a great honor” in an early-morning tweet.
The military parade in honor of the holiday, which commemorates the 1789 storming of the Bastille, a fortress-prison also used to store munitions, during the French Revolution, took place along Paris’s famous Champs-Élysées.

This year’s celebrations also marked the 100th anniversary of the United States’ entry into World War I and featured U.S. soldiers marching alongside their French counterparts.
Macron invited Trump to visit Paris for the national celebration in June.
The pair dined at the Eiffel Tower’s famous Jules Verne restaurant along with first lady Melania Trump and French first lady Brigitte Macron.
Trump returned to the U.S. after the parade, which came a day after he held a joint press conference with Macron, saying ties between the U.S. and France have never been stronger.
