Trump: North Korea’s words, actions ‘hostile and dangerous’ to US

President Trump early Sunday characterized North Korea’s actions as “hostile and dangerous to the United States” after Pyongyang’s latest test of a nuclear weapon.

“North Korea has conducted a major Nuclear Test,” he tweeted.

“Their words and actions continue to be very hostile and dangerous to the United States,” he added.

“North Korea is a rogue nation which has become a great threat and embarrassment to China, which is trying to help but with little success.”

{mosads}North Korean state television earlier in the day described a test of a miniaturized hydrogen bomb capable of fitting on an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) as a “perfect success” and a “meaningful” step forward.

The test ratchets up tensions in the region and comes in direct defiance of Trump, who last month warned Pyongyang of “fire and fury” if it continued to threaten the U.S.

North Korea has also launched several ballistic missiles in recent weeks.

Trump has pressured China to rein in North Korea and said in July that he was “disappointed” in Beijing for not doing more.

“I am very disappointed in China. Our foolish past leaders have allowed them to make hundreds of billions of dollars a year in trade, yet they do NOTHING for us with North Korea, just talk,” the president wrote in a pair of tweets. “We will no longer allow this to continue. China could easily solve this problem!”

Trump on Sunday also knocked South Korea for its talk of “appeasement” with North Korea.

“South Korea is finding, as I have told them, that their talk of appeasement with North Korea will not work, they only understand one thing!” he tweeted.

South Korea’s president, Moon Jae-in, on Sunday called for the “strongest possible” response to the North Korean test.

Moon also said on Sunday that he wants United Nations Security Council sanctions to “completely isolate” Pyongyang, according to multiple reports.
