Women in Saudi Arabia will be allowed to drive beginning next year.
Saudi Arabia announced Tuesday it will lift its ban and let women drive, according to The New York Times.
Beginning in June 2018, women will be able to get driving licenses, the official Saudi Press Agency reported.
According to The Times, rights groups have long been pushing for women to be allowed to drive.
Women in the past have been put in jail for driving a car.

“In every country, including the United States, women and girls face challenges,” Ivanka Trump said at the event earlier this year.
“Saudi Arabia’s progress, especially in recent years, is very encouraging … But there’s still a lot of work to be done.”
