Romney: Iranian protesters reminiscent of ‘patriots who won our own freedom’
Mitt Romney on Sunday praised protesters in Iran who have in recent days demonstrated in opposition to alleged government corruption and economic conditions.
“Patriots afar remind us of the patriots who won our own freedom and also those who preserve it. Heroes all,” the former Republican presidential candidate tweeted.
Profoundly moving to watch those seeking freedom in Iran. Patriots afar remind us of the patriots who won our own freedom and also those who preserve it. Heroes all.

Romney, a former Republican presidential nominee, is said to be weighing a run for Senate if Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) retires.
{mosads}Protesters have taken to the streets throughout Iran for each of the last four days to protest economic hardships and alleged government corruption.
Some protesters in the country’s capital reportedly chanted “death to Rouhani,” referring to Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani, and “death to the dictator,” referring apparently to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
President Trump on Friday tweeted his support for the protests, adding that “the world is watching.” The Iranian government swiftly condemned the president’s remarks, calling them “deceitful and opportunist.”
