Security wall erected around residence where Trump will stay in London

Workers have erected barricades around the Winfield House in London, where President Trump is scheduled to spend Thursday night.

CNN reported that temporary fencing and concrete blocks surround the perimeter of the building, which serves as the residence of the U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom.

A sign outside the building reportedly warns passersby that surveillance, armed patrols and dog patrols are in the area.

It’s unclear if the barriers are a result of significant protests that are planned during Trump’s stay in the United Kingdom.

Air Force One touched down in London after Trump departed the NATO summit in Brussels on Thursday afternoon local time. He’ll remain in the United Kingdom until Sunday.

Thousands of protesters are expected to greet Trump during his visit. London Mayor Sadiq Khan granted approval for a “Trump baby” blimp to fly over London during the president’s stay.

The president downplayed any expected demonstrations upon his arrival, saying during a press conference in Brussels earlier Thursday that he thinks citizens in the United Kingdom are fond of him.

“I think it’s fine. I think they like me a lot in the U.K. I think they agree with me on immigration,” Trump said.

Trump is expected to largely avoid London beyond Thursday night, but the White House denies that is because of expected protests.
