North Korea airs glowing documentary of Trump-Kim summit

North Korean state TV reportedly aired a propaganda-like documentary recapping Kim Jong Un’s summit last week with President Trump.

The Associated Press reported that the documentary glorified Kim’s trip to Hanoi, Vietnam, and left out the failure between him and Trump to reach an agreement in denuclearization talks.

The video described the summit as “yet another meaningful incident on the issue of world peace,” according to the AP.

Footage shows Kim waving from a limousine as residents lined the streets of Hanoi, and shows Kim and Trump walking and talking inside a hotel where negotiations took place, the AP reported. Part of the documentary also depicts Kim’s visit to the North Korean Embassy, where he greeted staff.

North Korea produced a similar documentary about Kim’s first meeting with Trump last June in Singapore. The White House showed a video during that summit that depicted the two leaders as heroes in the push to rid the world of nuclear weapons.

Multiple news outlets reported on Tuesday that satellite images showed reconstruction taking place at a launch facility near the Chinese border that North Korea had started to dismantle prior Kim’s first meeting with Trump.

Trump said Wednesday he would be “very disappointed” if North Korea were reassembling their nuclear arsenal.

Multiple reports on Thursday said that new activity had also been detected at a North Korean long-range missile facility on the outskirts of Pyongyang.
