Norway bumps US as best place to be amid pandemic
Norway has taken over as the best place to be during the pandemic, bumping the United States from the top, according to a tool used by Bloomberg.
Bloomberg’s Covid Resilience Ranking tracks a country’s economic standing, vaccination coverage, quality of health care, mortality rate and easing of restrictions during the pandemic.
Norway moved up the pack to the No. 1 spot with an overall rating of 77.2. That is up 10 spots from the last update of the chart.
The U.S. dropped four spots and currently has an overall rating of 74. The drop in ratings has occurred as restrictions in some areas of the country are getting tighter due to the increase in coronavirus cases.
The U.S. is still in the fifth spot as deaths are far lower than previous COVID-19 waves due to the number of people vaccinated.
The Centers for Disease Prevention and Control in the U.S. recommended vaccinated individuals begin to wear masks again in areas where there is high transmission of the virus.
Countries around the world are experiencing another wave of the virus due to the delta variant that seems to be spreading faster than previous strains of the virus.
Indonesia is at the bottom of Bloomberg’s ranking due to the high amount of people dying daily and the lack of vaccines to satisfy the country’s population.
