Islamic State takes responsibility for Iraq attack that killed 11

The Islamic State has taken responsibility for an attack in Iraq on Tuesday that killed 11 people.

The terror group posted on their affiliated Telegram account Wednesday that they were behind the deadly attack at the village of Al-Hawasha, Reuters reported.

The attack killed 11 and injured 13, security sources told AFP on Tuesday.

One of the sources said the villagers were part of the Bani Tamim tribe and the area was one where many security service members lived.

The sources said Tuesday that the Islamic State had been suspected to be behind the attack.

The attack follows the arrest earlier this month of the financial overseer of ISIS, Sami Jasim, in Iraq.

It also follows a bombing the group took responsibility for in Uganda on Saturday that killed one person.

The United Nations said in a report earlier this year there are still 10,000 active ISIS fighters in Syria and Iraq.
