Sweden sending medical supplies, equipment to Ukraine
Sweden’s minister of health on Wednesday announced that the country is set to send equipment and medical supplies to Ukraine almost a week after Russia launched its invasion.
“Sweden will supply a large amount of medical equipment to Ukraine,” Lena Hallengren told a news conference, according to Reuters.
She added that the EU requested the aid and that 1 million face masks as well as ventilators and disinfectant will be included in the supplies, the news service noted.
Ukraine has been fighting off Russian military advances since Thursday, with several thousand of its citizens fleeing the country for safety.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Wednesday that Russia has launched missiles and bombs targeting civilian areas in the country.
“We were all bombed in Kyiv last night. And we all died again in Babyn Yar – from a missile strike,” he said, referring to a Holocaust memorial that was bombed.
“[T]hey have an order to erase our history. Erase our country. Erase us all,” he added.
