One American killed in terror attack at Nairobi hotel
An American was among those killed in a terror attack on a hotel in Nairobi, Kenya, on Tuesday, ABC News reports.
San Francisco-based strategy and investment advisory firm I-DEV International said their founder, Jason Spindler, “was tragically among the fatalities,” according to ABC News.
{mosads}A State Department spokesperson confirmed to ABC News than an American was killed but did not disclose the identity of the victim.
Kenyan authorities say that at least 21 people were killed in the attack, which they are calling an act of terror, according to Reuters.
“We are grieving as a country this morning, and my heart and the heart of every Kenyan goes out to the innocent men and women violated by senseless violence,” Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta said in a broadcast Wednesday morning.
The DusitD2 hotel, where the attack took place, in the Westlands neighborhood of Nairobi, is popular among foreigners.
Terrorist group al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack.
