US to declare China among worst human trafficking offenders: report
The United States is expected to label China one of the worst human trafficking offenders, The Associated Press reported on Monday.
Officials told the news outlet that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will make the announcement on Tuesday at a ceremony presenting Congress with the annual “Trafficking in Persons” Report.
{mosads}China will reportedly be placed in the third tier of the State Department’s ranking system, putting the country in the lowest category that is reserved for nations that fail to reach the minimum standards to thwart human trafficking, the AP said.
The categorization for China comes as the Trump administration in recent months has urged it to help combat North Korea’s nuclear ambitions.
