Macron calls Australian prime minister’s wife ‘delicious’
French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday reportedly referred to the wife of Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull as “delicious.”
“I want to thank you for your welcome, thank you and your delicious wife for your warm welcome,” Macron said, according to The Associated Press.

The AP cited several potential reasons for Macron’s word choice. The French word “delicieux” can mean “delightful.” But the news outlet said Turnbull had just been talking about French cooking before Macron made the remark.
President Trump was mocked last year for comments he made about Macron’s wife during a trip to France.
“You know, you’re in such good shape,” Trump told Brigitte Macron. The president then said “beautiful.”
Macron and his wife visited the United States last month for the Trump administration’s first state dinner. During the trip, Macron and his wife appeared with the president and first lady Melania Trump.
Macron also gave a speech to a joint session of Congress, in which he criticized the current environment of “fear and anger.”
