Spokesman says UK’s Boris Johnson has not been questioned in party investigation

The police have not interviewed British Prime Minister Boris Johnson regarding their investigation into the parties reportedly held at 10 Downing Street and other ministerial buildings during the height of the COVID-19 lockdown.

When asked if Johnson had been interviewed by the London Metropolitan Police, which is leading the investigation, his spokesman said “No,” according to Reuters

His office has also not yet received civil servant Sue Gray’s report into the potential breaches of COVID-19 regulations, he added, the wire service noted.

The London Metropolitan Police announced earlier this week that it would launch an investigation into “a number of events that took place at Downing Street and Whitehall in the last two years,” Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick said.

He noted that the investigation does not mean fixed penalty notices will be issued to everyone involved.

Johnson recently faced scrutiny after reports of a “bring your own booze” party in May 2020 surfaced, which he has since apologized for.

British media reported that 14 events violated the COVID-19 lockdowns, according to The Washington Post.
