Netanyahu’s wife admits criminal wrongdoing over misuse of state funds
Sara Netanyahu, who is married to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, pleaded guilty on Sunday to misusing state funding to order catered meals.
Netanyahu admitted to wrongdoing in a plea agreement that will result in no jail time, Reuters reported. She will pay 45,000 shekels ($12,490) as a reimbursement and 10,000 additional shekels ($2,775) as a fine.{mosads}
Netanyahu and a government employee were accused of using more than $100,000 in state funds for hundreds of meals, Reuters reported, citing an indictment.
“Do you understand what you admitted to?” the judge asked Netanyahu at a Sunday court hearing, according to the wire service.
“Yes, I do,” she replied.
Separately, her husband is facing three corruption cases, according to the wire service. Those cases will not be affected by Sunday’s plea.
