Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Iran on Tuesday that it would be within range of Israeli airstrikes.
Speaking at an Israeli air force base, Netanyahu cited Iran’s threats against Israel, according to Reuters.
“Iran recently has been threatening Israel’s destruction,” Netanyahu said. “It should remember that these planes can reach anywhere in the Middle East, including Iran, and certainly Syria.”
He also reportedly viewed F-35 warplanes at the base. {mosads}
According to the wire service, a senior Iranian parliamentarian told the semi-official Mehr news agency last week that Iran would destroy Israel if the U.S. attacked Iran.
Israel has consistently said that multiple options were on the table to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, which Iran has said it is not seeking to do.
The International Atomic Energy Association, which monitors compliance with the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, confirmed Monday that the country had exceeded the maximum uranium enrichment level established in the agreement. It follows the country’s announcement that it would increase its uranium enrichment.
President Trump withdrew the U.S. from the deal in 2018, and in recent weeks, tensions between the U.S. and Iran have escalated.
