Moscow ‘satisfied’ with Trump phone call

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman said Moscow is satisfied with the recent phone conversation between Putin and President Trump, Tass news agency reported on Tuesday.

“Now we judge by the stance stated during the recent phone conversation. … We are satisfied by it,” Dmitry Peskov said, according to the government-run news outlet.

The official also dismissed the notion that the U.S. president is unpredictable, stating that it is not up to Russia to judge Trump’s qualities.

{mosads}”In this case, it is not us who should give any characteristics to the U.S. president — this is the domestic affair of America,” Peskov said.

Trump and Putin on Saturday agreed to pursue “real coordination” in their campaign against the Islamic State in Syria (ISIS), according to the Kremlin.

The White House also echoed Moscow’s assessment of the call, saying that both leaders agreed to pursue “mutual cooperation in defeating ISIS.”

“It was also rather positive as the heads of state said respect was a very important principle of bilateral relations,” Peskov said.

“Over the past years, the lack of mutual respect mainly became the reason for a setback and deterioration of our relations,” he added.
