WATCH: New ad launched to back Iran deal

The pro-Israel advocacy group supporting the nuclear deal with Iran has released a new TV ad as part of a $5 million push to sway people in support of the agreement this summer.

The 30-second ad from J Street cites former Israeli military and security leaders who have supported the deal, and claims that the agreement is the best possible option to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear bomb.

{mosads}“This deal prevents Iran from producing a nuclear weapon,” a narrator claims.

“That’s good for Israel, good for America and makes both countries safer and more secure.”

J Street is spending more than $2 million to run the ad for three weeks in five states: Colorado, Oregon, Michigan, Maryland and Pennsylvania.

Lawmakers from those states — such as Sen. Ben Cardin (Md.), the ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and freshman Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich.) — are considered to be on the fence about the deal and may be swayed by the extra pressure.

Supporters of the agreement with Iran are up against other groups opposed to the deal that have much deeper pockets.

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) is expected to spend as much as $40 million in opposing the deal, and its advertisements have already blanketed the airwaves in some states.

The lobbying will be particularly fierce over the course of the next month, until lawmakers return to Congress in September to vote on the deal.
