Conway dismisses report that Russia tried to compromise Trump: ‘There’s a lot of crap on the internet’

President-elect Donald Trump’s top aide early Wednesday blasted unverified reports that Russia has compromising information on the president-elect.

“It’s an internet report,” Kellyanne Conway said Wednesday on “Good Morning America.”

“There’s a lot of crap on the internet, as we all know.”

Conway said she “certainly” didn’t meet with any Russian officials during Trump’s presidential campaign.

She also stressed that officials are not allowed to disclose what occurs in intelligence briefings.

{mosads}”Just to smear the president-elect of the United States, we now have intelligence officials divulging information that they are sworn not to divulge,” she said.

“And I don’t even think this is fake news, I think it’s just fake. I would take the news word right out of it.”

Reports surfaced a day earlier saying intelligence officials had briefed the president-elect on a dossier of unverified material alleging the Russia government had damaging information on him.

The 35-page document, made up of a collection of memos filled with explosive claims about Trump’s relationship to Russia, has reportedly been circulating among journalists and officials for at least a few weeks.

But the sourcing on the documents is unclear and likely unverifiable. CNN reported that the information was based primarily on memos compiled by a former British intelligence operative intended as opposition research into Trump.

After news of the report surfaced, the president-elect quickly disputed it.

“FAKE NEWS — A TOTAL POLITICAL WITCH HUNT!” he tweeted Tuesday night.
